American actress, DeWanda Wise is best known for her role as Nola Darling in Spike Lee’s 10-episode 2017 Netflix series. She has to have it . She has been active in the film industry since 2006 and has appeared in numerous movies and television series, including Spun In Butter, Precious, Steamy, Smoking/No Smoking, and Airhead . As of 2018, Wise resides in Pasadena, California with her husband Alano Miller. The couple married in 2009.

Wise wanted to be a therapist until she took AP Psychology and decided that was not her career. He attended Atholton High School, where he received his first acting offer from the school’s theater director, Nathan Rosen in a production of Detention Place .

She graduated in 2006 from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater and Urban Studies. She worked as a resident assistant and stockperson at Trader Joe’s during her undergraduate years.
