1. He got his name as a suggestion from his brother-in-law who had asked him to come up with his name, resulting in him using designer Royel. His sister asked him to drop Royel and add another “I” to his name.
2. He honed his singing skills by performing in the school choir and at a church.
3. The idea for his debut single, Panda came from listening to the beat on YouTube while playing a GTA game with his friends. He bought this punch for $200 before making it his own work.
4. He came up with a panda song within two days. However, he initially had no plans to work on the single and wanted to do something good for more established rappers, but his manager persuaded him to do so.
5. In September 2016, police authorities stopped his SUV in New York City after a 911 caller claimed the rapper drew a gun on him during the altercation.
6. NYPD officers found guns and oxycodone in his vehicle when responding to the 911 call. He and his four companions received gun and drug charges.
7. In June 2016, XXL magazine included him in their Freshman Class for 2016 Feature list along with 9 other aspiring rappers .
8. In February 2016 he was signed by Kanye West to his label GOOD Music, which is signed to Def Jam Recordings.
9. Four months before the release of his debut single, he was in talks with Cash Money Records. However, he chose Kanye West’s album because he felt he could learn a lot from him.
