Derek Trucks is the American guitarist who is the original member of The Derek Trucks Band. He also performed as a member of the Allman Brothers d Prohibition gang and the Tedeschi Truck Gang .

He has also been named to Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time twice and also won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Early life

Derek Trucks was born on June 8, 1979, in Jacksonville, Florida, USA to Chris Trucks and Debbie Trucks. He is a White American by ethnicity and has US citizenship.

His uncle Butch Trucks is one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band while his younger brother, Duanes Truck , is a member of Widespread Panic and Hard Working Americans.

At the age of nine, Trucks bought his first guitar and within three years landed his first paid gig. At the age of 13, he shared the stage with American blues singer and guitarist Buddy Guy on the Thunderhawk tour.

In 1994, Derek Trucks formed his own band, The Derek Trucks Band when he was just 15 years old and by the time he was 20, he performed with a number of popular artists including Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh, and Stephen Stills.

Trucks frequently performed in The Allman Brothers Band as a guest musician, but only after 1999 did he become the official band member of The Allman Brothers Band.

He then collaborated with Eric Clapton in 2006 and performed several concerts in 17 different countries with three other bands. In 2008, he began recording the album, Ya Libre, in his home studio along with members of his band.

Trucks and his wife Susan Tedesch also collaborated and found the Tedeschi Truck Band in 2010 and released their debut album, Revelator, in 2011. His band also received the Grammy Award for Best Blues Album in 2012 and a Grammy Award nomination in 2018. .

Then in 2014 Trucks retired from the Allman Brothers Band along with fellow guitarist Warren Haynes. Rolling Stone also included Truck in the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time twice.

Derek Trucks is a married man. He is currently married to singer and musician Susan Tedeschi. The couple married in December 2001. Trucks and Tedeschi have two children together: a son, Charles Khalil Trucks, who was born in March 2002, and a daughter, Sophia Naima Trucks, who was born in 2004.
