Derek Carr is an American football player, best known for his role as quarterback for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He was raised in Bakersfield, California with his two older brothers before the family decided in 2002 to move to Sugar Land, Texas at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. For his sophomore year, he became a backup quarterback on the varsity team. During his college days as a soccer player, Derek Carr was honored with the Sammy Baugh Trophy . His game improved with every match and soon after, he was signed by the national team Oakland Raidersin the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft to a four-year, $5.37 million contract with a $2.2 million signing bonus. Derek Carr made his debut for the Oakland Raiders as a backup to Matt Schaub in a game against the Seattle Seahawks on August 28, 2014. Despite his brief appearance in the game, he went 11 of 13 for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns for a near-perfect quarterback rating.

- Derek Carr’s high school football career began in his freshman year at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. During his sophomore year, he became a backup quarterback on the varsity team. He became a quarterback preseason because another quarterback had an injury.
- He finished his junior year at Clements High School with 1,622 yards and 16 touchdowns and a sophomore with 1,246 yards and 12 touchdowns.
