- He began his basketball journey in 1989 with Proleter Zrenjanin.
- Bodiroga was already 2.05 m tall at the age of 15.
- Dejan moved to Zadar at the age of 17.
- He wanted to leave basketball because of the Yugoslav wars.
- Despite having offers from AEK and Olympiacos, Bodiroga decided to continue his career at Stefanel Trieste, a team coached by Bogdan Tanjevic.
- In his first year at Stefanel, Bodiroga averaged 21.3 points per game after 30 league games.
- He joined the Spanish team Real Madrid beforethe start of the 1996-1997 basketball season. Bodiroga struck a deal worth $1 million. At that time, Real was led by Serbian coach Zeljko Obradovic.
- In the period from 1998 to 2002, Bodiroga competed for the Greek team Panathinaikos. He managed to lift the Euroleague trophy twice in the 1998-1999 and 2001-2002 seasons.
- Dejan moved to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2002. There he clinched two national league titles and a Euroleague title, the first in Barcelona’s history.
- In 2007 he ended his basketball career with the Italian team Lottomatica Roma.
- Bodiroga officially retired from professional basketball on June 8, 2007.
- In June 2007 he became Managing Director of Lottomatica Roma. Dejan left his position after two years in June 2009.
- Dejan Bodiroga is the second cousin of famous Croatian basketball player Drazen Petrovic. Drazen died in a car accident on June 7, 1993.
