He wrote classic episodes of the original “Star Trek” series. Dorothy Catherine Fontana passed away on December 2, 2019 at the age of 80. “She was the legendary writer who gave life to several of the most memorable chapters,” has indicated the official website of the galactic franchise.

Born in Sussex, New Jersey, on March 25, 1939, DC Fontana worked as a secretary for Gene Roddenberry , creator of Star Trek . He offered her the opportunity to write scripts for the series, and after checking the quality of it, she ended up taking care of a dozen chapters. Among them are “Charlie X”, the second episode that aired, or “Journey to Babel”, where the Vulcan ambassador Sarek and his human wife Amanda, the parents of Dr. Spock, appear for the first time. She continued to contribute to the franchise in the 1973 animated series, Star Trek The Next Generation , and Star Trek Deep Space Nine .

In addition, he wrote scripts for other outstanding series, such as Logan’s Run , or Babylon 5 . She is survived by her husband, Dennis Skotak, a visual effects artist.
