David Goffin Facts

1. He started playing tennis at the age of 6.
2. Goffin likes to play golf.
3. His role model was the legendary Swiss tennis player Roger Federer. Goffin also stated he had posters in his Swiss player’s bedroom.
4. As a junior, David only competed in two junior grand slams, US Open and Wimbledon.
5. Goffin’s first ATP tournament victory came at the 2011 Chennai Open in a match against Somdev Devvarman.
6. During the 2012 French Open, David became the first “lucky loser” to advance to the 16th round in a Grand Slam tournament (because Gaël Monfils was eliminated from the tournament) after fellow countryman Dick Norman did so at Wimbledon in 1995.
7. He won his first ATP tournament at the Austrian Open in Kitzbuhel when Goffin managed to beat Dominic Thiem in the final.
