David Filo was born in Wisconsin on April 20, 1966, and was raised in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. At Tulane University in New Orleans, where he continued his schooling, he attained a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering.
Later, Filo moved to California to continue his education at Stanford University, where he was successful in obtaining his Master of Science.
Career
David Filo and Jerry Yang met while both were students at Stanford and at the beginning of 1994, they put together a website called “Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web” that included numerous websites. Later, they changed its name to “Yahoo!” and launched the Yahoo! Directory.
It established itself as a legitimate business with a search engine by March 1995. After coming public in 1996 and seeing a 600% stock price increase in just two years, Yahoo! became a trailblazer in internet directories and search engines. They grew through making strategic acquisitions and launching a web portal.
