David Culley is an American head coach who has held this position for 45 years. He has experience coaching at college and professional (NFL) levels. He recently served as head coach for the Houston Texans NFL teams in 2021 on a $22 million deal. But the team fired him after the first season in January 2022 after finishing the 2021 season with a 4-13 record.

The head coach was born and raised in Sparta, Tennessee on September 17, 1955 as David Wayne Culley. He is the son of parents: Ulysses Grant Culley Sr. and his mother Jessie Mae, both deceased. His parents had raised him with his six children. He has an American nationality and belongs to the Afro-American ethnicity.
Regarding his education, he attended White County High School and then Vanderbilt University. During his high school years, he played American football as a quarterback and played as a point guard in basketball. And during his college years, he had played as a quarterback, becoming the first African-American to hold that position in school history.
He began his career in 1978 as a running backs coach at Austin Peay State University. He then worked as a running backs coach at several universities including the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and Texas A&M University until he began his professional career with NFL teams. In 1994, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired him under head coach Sam Wyche as their wide receivers coach.
In the same position, he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers under head coach Bill Cowher in 1996 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999. As associate head coach/wide receivers coach, the Kansas Chiefs City in 2013. Subsequently, he worked for the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and then Houston Texans in 2021. But after one season, the Texans fired him as head coach who became the fourth coach -leader of the Texans in franchise history.
