Chalian was born in July 1973 to a Jewish family. His parents were Robert P. Chalian and Carol Chalian. He joined Marlboro High School, which is one of New Jersey’s comprehensive public high schools.
In 1991, he completed his graduation from Northwestern University where he studied and obtained the B.A. David has a U.S. citizenship.
