He edited successful films by director Oliver Stone, and was at the service of other greats in Hollywood. The editor David Brenner passed away on February 17, 2022, at the age of 59, for reasons that have not been disclosed. He was immersed in the preparation of “Avatar 2”, under the orders of James Cameron. “Our hearts go out to his wife Amber and his children Annie, Haider and Sasha. I will greatly miss his talent, compassion and friendship,” the director said.

Born in 1962, David Brenner began his career with Oliver Stone , as an assistant editor at Salvador , Platoon and Wall Street . He signed for the first time as an editor with another title of his, Talking to Death , and he repeated with him in Born on July 4 , for which he won the Oscar in his speciality. He would return to command him in The Doors , Heaven and Earth , World Trade Center  , and Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps .

In addition, David Brenner also worked on Roland Emmerich ‘s hit titles such as Independence Day , The Patriot , The Day After Tomorrow and 2012 , as well as  Rob Marshall ‘s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides . He became Zack Snyder ‘s regular editor in the DC superhero universe, handling the editing of Man of Steel , Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and both versions of Justice League .

He is survived by his wife, Amber, and their children, Annie, Haider, and Sasha.
