The popular magician was born as David Blaine White on April 4, 1973. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to parents Patrice Maureen White (1946–1995) and William Perez. His mother was a teacher while his father, a Vietnam War veteran. He is of mixed ethnicity of Puerto Rican Jewish, Italian, and Russian ancestry.

Additionally, he was brough in by his married bachelor as he attended many schools in Brooklyn. After years later, her mother remarried John Bukalo and moved to Little Falls, New Jersey. There he attended Passaic Valley Regional High School. He became interested in magic at the age of four when he saw a magician performing magic on the subway, which sparked a lifelong interest in him. At the age of seventeen he moved to Manhattan, New York where his career began.

He made his first television special ‘David Blaine: Street Magic’ on ABC at the age of twenty-four in May 1997. In Magic Man he traveled across the country to show and entertain pedestrians recording by a small team with portable cameras. In April 1999, his scariest first blow happened when he was buried alive in a 3-ton tank filled with water for seven days. There he stood without food or drink and said he beat his hero Harry Houdini who couldn’t live up to expectations.

Following this act, he performed another stunt called ‘Frozen in Time’. He attempted this but failed to stand in a large block of ice for 72 hours located in Times Square, New York. Instead, he attempted it for 63 hours, 42 minutes and 15 seconds before pulling out chainsaws. After the ice completely removed his body, he was rushed to the hospital, fearing he was in shock.

Over time, his trick started to get scarier and performed several kinds of the dardier magic stunts. It includes stunts like without attaching the pillar, he was lifted by a crane onto a 100-foot-tall, 22-inch-wide pillar in Bryant Park, NY City as well as the stunt from ‘Drowed Alive’. In 2013, he starred in a 90-minute ABC television special “David Blaine: Real or Magic” directed by Matthew Akers. Followed by his 2016 appearance in a 42-minute ABC TV special.
