Danny Leiner
He achieved enormous success with “Dude, Where’s My Car?”, a comedy that seemed aimed at young stoners, and later directed episodes of memorable television series. The director Danny Leiner died on October 18, 2018 at the age of 57, as a result of cancer, according to Ross Putman, producer of some of his films and a close friend of his.
Born on May 13, 1961, in Brooklyn, Daniel Leiner graduated from Purchase College, a renowned New York center, where he was part of a large group of aspiring filmmakers known as “The Purchase Mob.” He made his film debut with Layin’ Low , a comedy that went unnoticed.
His second feature film, Colleague, where is my car? , however, was enormously successful, despite the simplicity of its argument and its humorous strokes. Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott star as two marijuana enthusiasts who after a crazy night try to remember where they parked their vehicle. He repeated the formula with Dos colgaos muy fumaos , another comedy for ‘cheeks’ that also received good acceptance, with another couple looking for a hamburger joint, under the influence of drugs.
In addition, Danny Leiner has handled installments of top-rated series such as The Sopranos , The Office , and Gilmore Girls . Since 2014 he had retired early.
