Career
Danny Kanell attended Florida State University and played quarterback for four years. During his college days, Danny played in 35 games and made 62.2% of his 851 pass attempts. He was named to the Honorable Mention All-Americans list during his senior season at Florida State.
In the year 1993, Danny joined the New York Yankees after the 14th round of the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. He later was selected by the New York Giants in the 4 th round of the 1996 NFL Draft. The same season, he made his appearance in the NFC and showed great performances, playing for the Giants.
Despite all the performances, Danny was simply incurring $216,000 as the league minimum salary. So the next season, Kanell signed a three-year contract with the Giants worth $9.5 million. Nonetheless, the Giants eventually signed Kerry Collins from the New Orleans Saints and released Danny in order to have enough salary cap space to pay Collins’ salary.
After being released by the Atlanta Falcons in 2000, he then played for the AFL team New York Dragons in 2004, followed by a season with the NFL’s Denver Broncos. In the same year he announced his retirement. Following his retirement, he also worked at ESPN and hosted ESPNU UNIDO .
