In 2016, Daniel was training 5 days a week and, under the guidance of his personal trainer Matt Lucas, his training session lasted two and a half hours. He was trained in Shaolin Kung Fu, Wushu, Muay Thai and western boxing.
A trained martial artist, Daniel’s body sustained multiple injuries including a torn cruciate ligament, so he practiced martial arts yoga to keep himself flexible, powerful and fully aware of his body and mind.

- At the age of 6, Daniel Jet Li was watching The Shaolin Temple and was inspired to learn kung fu, but his mother was afraid to let him fight. It took him almost 4 years to convince his mother to learn kung fu.
- Daniel’s kung fu teacher was a huge influence and according to him, he learned many things from his teacher that even his parents couldn’t teach him, like Buddhism and Taoism.
- In college, Daniels was a minor in art history, so he took many film classes and watched many international art films, mostly by the late Akira Kurosawa and French director Luc Besson.
- He had no interest in filmmaking until he actually started making his first film.
- After college, Wu decided to take a year off and travel to Asia to try his hand at modeling.
- His father did not support his decision to pursue an acting career.
- He was sought out as an actor by a Hong Kong director through a photo in a clothes advertisement and cast in his first film.
- In 1988 he also met Jackie Chan and was invited to his management company.
- His film Bishonen also called Beauty was played at the Lumiere Theater in San Francisco in 1999.
- In 2005 he formed a band called Alive with Terence Yin and Rotten Tomatoes founders Patrick Lee and Stephen Wang.
