INTERVIEW WITH DANIEL CRAIG

Source: www.theguardian.com

You appear to be in peak physical condition. 007 has always been tough but by no means a gymnast. Do you think there’s now a conflict between the charm of the original decadent Bond image and the cutting edge athletic Bond who clearly doesn’t indulge the original character’s lifestyle? (from Bozobonce)

Daniel Craig: Starting with Casino Royale at the start, I wanted the man to look like he was out of the armed forces, so he had to be in good shape. If you talk about the charm that came with the early movies, I’m no Sean Connery and I will never copy anything that was made. Give us time and it won’t just be about physics but right now that’s where we’ve been and that’s where it’s exciting to go because we have better technology and better facilities to make these kinds of films. Admittedly, this one doesn’t end [with the action] and continues where the last one left off.

What is by far the greatest benefit of being Mr. Bond? (from MaytchBomb)

Daniel Craig:There are a lot of them and I would be lying to you if I said there aren’t any. I tend to look at it that way. We had success with the last film. I hope we have success with this movie, and it’s a very fickle business. So I really try to enjoy what’s happening to me as much as possible. If I could think of one thing, it would be going to Japan for the first time. I would never have been, to go and be invited to Japan and be taken and cared for by people… I would never have been able to do things like that under those circumstances. We went to the Sistine Chapel at eight o’clock in the morning on a Sunday morning. We had thick, chunky heads. We were really just hungover from hell, and the pope had just left, it was empty and we were able to stand in the Sistine Chapel and look at the ceiling and have it explained to us by this wonderful, wonderful guide. And it was incredibly moving. There are times like this that we desperately try to take advantage of. These are times when you suddenly go, okay, that’s why we’re doing this, because that’s what makes it extra special. Plus some clothes [laughs]. is what makes it very special. Plus some clothes [laughs]. is what makes it very special. Plus some clothes [laughs].

Over the years we have seen Bond kiss many beautiful birds along the way. Do you think Bond will ever fuck a guy? (from Paul1970)

Daniel Craig: This is the question that comes up forever. Kill him and then seduce him [laughs] but not seduce him. It was never on the agenda and we never discussed it. It’s not something I desire or want. No.
