Dangote Cement inaugurates CSR projects

Ibese Plant of Dangote Cement Plc has started multi-million naira CSR initiatives for its host communities.

The corporation revealed that on “2022 Host Community Day,” it launched a number of empowerment initiatives for vulnerable women in its 17 host communities, including training in farming practices, skill acquisition, and scholarships.

According to the report, more than 120 students from elementary schools to colleges received scholarship checks, while 50 disadvantaged women, including widows, returned home with grinding machines to help sustain their families income.

In a release, it was observed that as part of efforts to inform the residents of the host communities about its social performance record in those places, the Dangote Cement, Ibese Plant also launched its first issue of a community newsletter.

As they participated in the project unveilings, the traditional leaders of the host communities who attended the event were all praised for the management of Dangote Cement.

In a similar vein, it was announced to the audience that 60 farmers had received training on good agricultural practices for growing maize over the course of the year in an effort to increase agricultural output. Another 30 young people were also undergoing training on domestic electrification and installation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Azad Nawabuddin, Director of Dangote Cement’s Ibese Plant, said the occasion showed the company’s dedication to fostering a better relationship between the Ibese Plant and its host communities.

With the “cardinal objective of celebrating and appreciating our primary stakeholders for granting us the social license to operate in a sustainable manner, while also taking stock of our imprints within the calendar year,” he said, it has been a significant milestone in the company more than ten years of existence.
