- He lost his mother to colon cancer when he was a sophomore at Mississippi State University .
- He chose his 4th jersey in honor of his mother’s birthday on September 4th.
- He was inducted into the Mississippi State SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll in 2013 for his excellence on the field and excellence in the classroom.
- He played as a linebacker or running back until he was moved to the quarterback position for his middle school team.
