The Federal government of Nigeria has said the covid-19  vaccines that arrived in the country last Tuesday, will not be mandated for Nigerians to take.

This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, during an interview on Arise TV, on Wednesday.

“Nothing will be made mandatory. It’s optional. The choice is yours. Nobody will be forced to take any vaccine,” he said.

The Minister when asked if the vaccine would be made mandatory later said, “If that happens, it would not be a decision of Nigeria.”

Mamora further stated that countries might have to start demanding a COVID-19 vaccination certificate before allowing outsiders in.

He said Nigeria may be influenced by a demand by countries for a certificate of vaccination, adding that “it may just be something that will become global.

Meanwhile, the Federal government said that the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines which arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday are not allotted to rich people.

The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this while speaking on Channels TV.on Wednesday
