  • Recall that the institution was the only Nigerian private school featured in the Times Higher Education 2023 Subject Rankings
  • The Vice Chancellor says the institution’s achievements are solely by the validity of God’s Covenant word over Covenant University

Covenant University (CU) has responded to its rankings in the Times Higher Education 2023 Subject Rankings in which the institution emerged as the only Nigerian private institution on the list.

Recall that RNN earlier reported that over 45 Universities were ranked among some of the world’s best institutions on the list.

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, the Vice Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo expressed his excitement over the achievement, adding that the institution’s accomplishments were by the validity of God’s Word of covenant over the school and not by man’s might or power.

Adebayo further said that the University runs with a mandate to raise a new generation of leaders in all areas of life.

On the recently-published list, CU topped all other Nigerian Universities in five courses, featuring prominently in Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Computer science, engineering, and physical sciences subjects.

It can also be recalled from the earlier report that no Nigerian State University was featured on the list.

Some Federal Universities equally featured on the list are the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; University of Ilorin; Obafemi Awolowo University; University of Lagos; Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Bayero University, Kano; and the University of Benin in no particular order.

These Nigerian Universities rankings are quite impressive, compared to the 2022 rankings that saw only five institutions on the list.
