One Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday has dismissed Okorocha’s plea, refused to grant an order of interim injunction sought by former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Imo State Government stopping them from further interfering and confiscating his properties located in various parts of the country.
Recall that Okorocha on Wednesday in Abuja had asked the court to issue a restraining order against the EFCC and Imo State Government from further interfering and confiscating his properties located in various parts of the country.
More so, the Judge held that granting the order during various challenges to the court jurisdiction in the matter will not be in the interest of justice.
Justice Mohammed instead fixed August 24 to first hear the challenge by EFCC and Imo State that the motion on notice filed by Okorocha cannot be heard during court vacation.
Meanwhile, Governors of southeastern states have come under heavy criticism for keeping mum on the predicament of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, said it is worried by the nonchalant attitude being displayed by the governors.
Notwithstanding, the Abia State Government had recently revealed that it was actively monitoring the situation with the IPOB leader.
Nnamdi Kanu is currently under trial at a Federal High Court in Abuja and his state of origin, Abia, vowed to ensure that his fundamental human rights, as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, are respected.
