Which countries have the most billionaires in the world? — As of 2022, there is a total of 2,668 billionaires in the world; a very low figure compared to the 2755 billionaires in 2021.  According to Forbes, the reduction in the number of billionaires is due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Chinese tech crackdown and slipping stock prices on the exchange.

Interestingly, these top 10 countries account for 1983 (74%) of the 2,668 billionaires in the world. This article would be exploring the top 10 countries with the highest number of billionaires in 2022.

The United States of America is the country with the highest number of Billionaires in 2022. The Republic of India takes third place among the countries with the most billionaires, after producing a total of 166 billionaires in 2022. Mukesh Ambani, The chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, a conglomerate with interests in telecommunications, retail, and oil and gas top the list of Indian billionaires with an estimated net worth of $90.7 Billion.

4. Germany

Germany, with a total number of 134 Billionaires, joins the list of the countries with the most billionaires in 2022. The troops of German Billionaire are led by Dieter Schwarz, a fashion and retail Mogul who founded the Schwarz Group, A conglomerate with  $140 billion in annual revenue.

5. Russia

Russia Produced a total of 83 billionaires in 2022, 34 fewer billionaires than last year following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This put the European country in fifth place among the countries with the highest number of billionaires in 2022. Vladimir Lisin, the chairman of NLMK Group, is the richest man in Russia with an estimated net worth of $18.4 billion

6. Hong Kong

Hong Kong joins the list of countries with the highest number of billionaires as it produced a total of 67 billionaires in 2022. Topping the Hong Kong billionaire is Robin Zeng,  the founder and chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), one of the world’s largest suppliers of batteries for electric vehicles. Followed by Li Ka-Shing, an uneducated billionaire, who was the former chairman of CK Asset Holdings, A conglomerate involved in real estate, retail, infrastructure, and port services.

7. Canada

Taking seventh place among the countries with the highest number of billionaires in 2022 is Canada. The country has a total of 64 billionaires led by Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume.  Zhao has an estimated net worth of $65 billion putting him in 19th place on the world ranking.

8. Brazil

Brazil with 65 billionaires joins the list of countries with the highest billionaire in 2022. These Brazillian high net worth individuals are led by investment banker Jorge Paulo Lemann and his family with an estimated net worth of $15.4 billion. Jorge Paulo Lemann started in investment banking and later became a controlling shareholder of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer.

9. Italy

Italy takes ninth place among the countries with the highest number of billionaires in 2022 with 52 billionaires. These Italian moneybags are led by Giovanni Ferrero (estimated net worth of 32.6 Billion), the executive chairman of Ferrero SpA, a family’s namesake confections business, which posted $14 billion in sales in 2021.

10. Taiwan

Taiwan concludes the list of the top 10 countries with the highest number of billionaires in 2022 with 51 billionaires, led by Zhang Congyuan, the founder of Huali Industrial, a shoe manufacturer, in 2004; the company now has factories in China, Vietnam and Dominica.
