Top 10 Countries Where Men Far Outnumber Women
As the world population increases, the genders disparity increases more in some countries where men far outnumber women with consequences of it being seen
In our recent blog post, we listed and discuss some of the countries where women outnumber men but in this post, we will be discussing the opposite, we will list out the top 10 countries where men far outnumber women by a far margin, which revealed the distance margin and disparity between the male gender and female gender in this countries that will be listed here and the probable consequence that may leave in this states.
Meanwhile, contrary to the popular belief that there are more women in the world than men, these countries prove otherwise, and according to sources “out of 1,000 people, 504 are men (50.4%) and 496 are women (49.6%). For every 100 girls, 106 boys are born, but males have a higher risk of dying than females, both in childhood and at adult ages”.
Additionally, in a world of 8 billion people, that means men’s population can be safely put at 4,032,000,000Â while women’s world population is at 3,968,000,000 which accounts for 49.6% of the world’s 8 billion people. Although the gender population is evenly distributed in many countries even with countries places like the Middle East and some parts of Europe and Africa having more population of men, women still take the lead in more than 100 countries in the world.
1. Qatar – 75%
Qatar is a country in the Middle East in the Arabian Gulf is having an estimated population of 2,795,484 ranking 139th on the list of most populous countries in the world. With an estimated 75% male ratio to 25%, the male population is more than the female counterpart, while the approximately total population male equals 2.7 million, females take the rest.
Additionally, 80% of foreigners make up the total population of the small country with the remaining 20% being indigenous citizens. Most of the foreigners emigrated to Qatar to look for a better livelihood, mostly working as construction workers and laborers with countries such as India, Nepal, and Bangladesh making most of the 80%.
2. United Arab Emirates – 69%
UAE is one of the countries having more men than women. Usually, the population ratio of male to female used to be higher than what it has drooped to now, before the year 2011 when there was a decline in the ratio growth UAE have about 74.8% in 2010. With a population of approximately 9.4 million male population is about 6.5 – 6.6 million which shows a huge disparity. In addition, UAE had the world’s highest proportion of men between 1994 and 2008 with over 85% of the total population being immigrants who emigrated to search for better jobs with good pay mostly because of the oil boom in the country.
3. Oman – 66%
Oman making the third country in the Middle East coming on this list shows the huge gap in the gender ratio in the Arab Gulf and how that has reflected in the social involvement of women in developmental and political participation of the country and the entire region dominated by a wide margin by males.
According to the world bank, Oman has a population of approximately 4.52 million people with about 2 million of the total population being immigrants and approximately 3 million being male, the oil boom of the country makes it a destination for people mostly males from countries like India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan to emigrate to.
Lastly, the world atlas, reported that Oman’s population still being younger; “43% under the age of 15. Slightly more males (1.05/female) are born, and the majority survive to adulthood. There are 110 males for every 100 females between 15 and 24 years and 138 males for every 100 males between ages 25 and 54”.
4. Bahrain – 64%
Bahrain is one of the smallest countries in Asia in population and landmass, but it is also one of the richest Arab-Asian countries in the world. With a population of a little bit above 1.5 million people, Bahrain men take up 64% of the total population living women with about 554,616 while males account for about 908,649, which means 184.5 males per 100 females. In addition, 50% of the entire population are immigrants which are mostly males.
5. Maldives – 63%
The fifth country Maldives is a country in South Asia and a country outside Arabian Gulf having a population of 521,457 people, with the male taking over 63%. Maldives is a patriarchal or male-dominated society, with a preference for the male gender over their female counterparts. Only a few women hold key positions in government. Meanwhile, also like the Arabian countries, Maldives has about 34% of its entire population be non-local, that is immigrants mostly from neighboring countries.
6. Kuwait – 61%
Coming back to another country in the Arabian Peninsula, Kuwait is a high-income economy, with the world’s sixth-largest oil reserves, having a strong national currency. With a population of 4,250,114 people, Kuwait has 61% male dominance having about 3 million of its entire population being foreigners which makes up 70% of Kuwait’s population where male accounts for 2,590,695 in total as of 2021. Kuwait has the strongest currency in the whole world with a rich oil reserve which attracted most of the expatriates with the majority being from the Arabian Gulf.
7. Saudi Arabia – 58%
Saudi Arabia has a population of 35,950,396 people and is the largest and most populous Arabian country in the world. The Arabian country is a gender-segregated country, with strict restrictions on women’s rights and freedoms. Most women are under the guardianship of men who control every aspect of their lives from birth to death. The male population is 20,766,246 while the female population is 15,184,150.
8. Equatorial Guinea – 56%
Equatorial Guinea is an African country and the first and Central African country on this list with a population of approximately 1,634,466 people, male make up for 56% of the whole population account for 863,375 people, and females make up for 47% of the population which also account for 771,091 women. Also, like the Arabian countries, Equatorial Guinea has a considerable percentage of its population as foreigners who went there to work because of its oil-rich lands.
9. Bhutan – 53%
The second Asia country to come on this list of countries where men far outnumber women with the male population exceeding 53% of its entire population. The South-Asian country is a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge and is known for its monasteries and fortress landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys.
10. Djibouti – 52%
Djibouti is a French-Arabic country with a population of 1,105,557 people in total. It’s home to one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, the low-lying Lake Assal, in the Danakil Desert. In this East African country, the male population is dominant with over 548,890 men which accounts for 52%Â of the entire population.
Lastly, having more women in a country may have some consequences on the participation of the female gender in politic, social development, national development, and the family. Additionally, in countries where women have been strictly relegated to second-class citizens due to the dominance of the male population most especially in the Arab nations where the life of women is mostly determined by the male gender, it creates a disequilibrium society and will also make it harder for men see a mate.
