Corey Haim had his moment of glory in the 80s, with a couple of titles that hit the billboards hard. His name was always associated with his great friend Corey Feldman, another teen star with whom he starred in the television show “The Two Coreys.” When it seemed that he had a chance to return to acting, death occurred.

Since he had serious problems with drugs, it is speculated that an overdose could have been the cause of death. But the reality is that this is not exactly known. He was found in critical condition at his home, and died when he was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in California. He was 38 years old.

Corey Ian Haim was born on December 31, 1971 in Toronto, into a Jewish family. He was the son of a seller and a data processor of Israeli origin. As a child he liked hockey, playing music on the organ and collecting comics, but he was not interested in acting, until his mother signed him up for acting classes, with the aim of helping him overcome his shyness. .

He made his television debut with the comedy series The Edison Twins , and soon moved to the big screen, with a brief role in the drama A Stranger in the House , which was followed by another equally small role in Murphy’s Romance . His first starring role was in the horror film Blue Fright , an adaptation of a Stephen King book , in which he was a paraplegic boy who faced none other than the werewolf.

Haim did his best work as the lead in the hilarious dramedy Lucas , where he was the character alluded to in the title, a teenager more interested in classical music and science than sports. As he falls in love with a cheerleader who is fascinated with the best player on the football team, he decides to join the team too. He was accompanied by Charlie Sheen and Winona Ryder .

During the filming of Hidden Youth, he met Corey Feldman ( The Goonies ), who would become a great friend, and with whom he would collaborate again. Joel Schumacher ‘s vampire horror film , which also starred Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland , was one of his biggest hits.

Haim and Feldman returned to conquer the box offices with the inconsequential sitcoms Daddy’s Cadillac and Dream Girl , which appealed to younger audiences. He also had a prominent role in the low-budget film Project Horror . But Haim didn’t handle being a teen idol very well, and began to abuse alcohol and drugs. He was completely ruined, and had to undergo rehabilitation therapies, while his career was ruined. Though he continued to act throughout the ’90s, he had been relegated to spinoffs like High School Menace , which made direct-to-video releases.

He tried to return to the limelight in recent years, first with the television program “Los dos Corey”, again with Feldman. He appeared in Lost Boys: The Tribe , the late DVD sequel to Hidden Boys , and in a supporting role as one of Jason Statham ‘s enemies , in Crank: High Voltage .
