She wanted to be a singer, but to achieve it, Constance Towers had to stand out first as an actress. And she did it with two teachers, John Ford and Samuel Fuller.

Constance Mary Towers was born in Whitefish, Montana, United States, on May 20, 1933. A singing girl on the radio, her intention was to pursue a musical career, which is why she enrolled in New York at the prestigious Julliard School. At the same time she was studying drama at AADA, the American Academy of Dramatic Art, and when she began to be selected as an actress, her career opted in that direction.

She made her film debut with Come Your Smile (1955), a minor film by Blake Edwards . Although she has not had absolutely memorable jobs, the truth is that she has worked under the orders of two great cinema: with John Ford in the westerns Misión de audaces (1959) and El sergeant negro(1960), and above all with the master of film noir Samuel Fuller who gave her two great roles in Corridor of No Return (1961) and A Light in the Underworld (1964), where she played a prostitute in search of redemption, undoubtedly the highlight film of his career.

She married Eugene McGrath in 1959, they had two children, but divorced in 1966. Ella Towers she would remarry actor John Gavin in 1974, and she is still with him today.

Once positioned in Hollywood, the stubborn Towers resumed her attempts to stand out as a singer, and was present in many Broadway musicals, such as “Carousel”, “The Sound of Music” or “The King and I”, here accompanying Yul Brynner himself .for hundreds of performances.

With her age, her acting roles were on television, in series like Perry Mason and Capitol , and even today General Hospital . Although some films have not been lacking, among which it is worth highlighting The Relic and A Perfect Crime .
