- During his elementary school studies, he was stabbed in the head by a bully with scissors.
- Despite successfully auditioning for season 9 of the reality show So You Think You Can Dance, Cole could have missed appearing in the show how he got into trouble (because of nunchaku) while catching a flight from Los Angeles back to boarded Honolulu. Los Angeles airport TSA agents found a nunchaku, a traditional Okinawan weapon. Possession of nunchaku in California outside of a dojo or martial arts studio is illegal. He was tied to a chair in Culver City for five hours. Eventually, he managed to get through to the prosecutor’s hearing and explained to him that he was carrying nunchaku solely for entertainment purposes.
- At the urging of his father, who wanted his children to be able to protect themselves, he began training in martial arts at the age of 4.
- He started dancing in his teens after being inspired by his sister who was a member of various dance crews.
- For three years in high school he was a dedicated participant in dance events, but after high school he gave up dancing, feeling he wasn’t as good at it as he was at martial arts.
- While studying in high school, a friend of his told about Bruce Lee being filmed in Hollywood and asked him to put together an audition tape. When he tried the acting method, he stayed in Lee’s role for two to three months and rarely responded to being called Cole.
