Clifton Collins Jr.
In Capote , the work of Clifton Collins stands out, an absolute unknown who does an excellent job playing Perry, the assassin who ends up taking more trust with Truman Capote in the eponymous film.
This Californian, born on June 16, 1970, is not a newcomer. Of Spanish and Mexican descent, his grandfather was supporting actor Pedro González González , who starred with John Wayne in films such as Río Bravo and The High and the Mighty. Clifton is proud of his grandfather, but thinks he was given stereotypical roles, and has set himself the goal of making realistic characters, thus paving the way for Hispanic actors in Hollywood.
Although Clifton is always convincing as a supporting role, his roles are usually small. We saw him as a recruit in Tigerland , as a Mexican gunman in Traffic , as a prisoner in The Last Fortress and as an FBI psychologist in Mindhunters. She has also appeared in various television series such as “Alias”. “I dedicate a lot of time to becoming another person. I think that the actor’s work begins as soon as he arrives at the place where the casting is going to take place. There you cannot be yourself, because they are not looking for you. They are looking for a murderer. I’m not a murderer, I didn’t hit my mother, but you have to convince those in the audition that I am. They don’t want a guy who pretends to be a gangster,” says the actor, who we will see playing a policeman in Babel by González Iñárritu.
