Clarice taylor
Clarice Taylor became famous for the series The Bill Cosby Hour . When she joined the famous sitcom she already had a lot of experience in film and on stage. The veteran actress herself passed away on May 30, 2011 at the age of 93 from a heart attack.
Born on September 20, 1917 in Buckingham County (Virginia), Clarice Taylor began in the New York theater, at a time when there were still few opportunities for an African-American actress. She first had to juggle her acting with a job as a postal worker, following in her father’s footsteps, but she eventually joined the Negro Ensemble Company, so she was able to dedicate herself entirely to the theater.
He made his film debut in 1969 with Change of Mind , opposite Leslie Nielsen , and played a small role in Tell Me You Love Me, Junie Moon . She was also in Clint Eastwood ‘s directorial debut , Chill in the Night , in which she played Birdie, the girlfriend of the colleague at the station where Eastwood’s character worked.
After playing the Good Witch of the North in the musical The Wizard , both on Broadway and in the film version, she played a grandmother on Sesame Street . Her popularity came when she played the mother of Dr. Huxtable in The Bill Cosby Hour . She was last seen on the big screen, in a small role in Wayne Wang ‘s Smoke . She is survived by her two children and five grandchildren.
