City Girls are a hip-hop duo from Miami, Florida. The duo consists of Johnson Jatavia Shakara (JT) and Brownlee Caresha Romeka (Yung Miami).
CITY GIRL AGE
JT was born in Liberty City, Miami, Florida on December 3, 1992. Her husband, Yung Miami, was born in Opa-Locka, Miami, Florida on February 11, 1994.
In the tough towns, the two grew up and faced early obstacles. They met in college in 2010, still in their early teens. Their mothers, who had a strong taste for rich men, had a significant effect on their upbringing; a reality in their words.

In August 2017, City Girls recorded their single “F*ck Dat N*gga”. The raunchy song that promoted female independence featured a splice from Khia’s 2002 hit single, “My Neck My Back.” Shortly after his release, their career came to a halt when JT was arrested for credit card fraud.
Yung Miami was faced with the task of promoting the track on his own. She strategically promoted the song by sharing it on her Instagram account and telling club DJs for plays. The song began to explode while JT was in custody. After her bail, City Girls began to be booked frequently
Their rapid rise under the radar caught the eye of future manager Stanley Gabart. He in turn connected them with Quality Control Music executive coach K. Despite their reluctance at first, they eventually signed a deal with the label in December 2017.
In January 2018, City Girls released the official music video for their hit single. The track went viral online, exposing up-and-coming rappers. Later that year, the song appeared on the “Quality Control: Control The Streets Vol 1” project. The compilation debuted on the Billboard R&B/hip-hop chart and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200.
In May, they released their debut album “Period”. The project was led by singles ‘Tighten Up’, ‘I’ll Take Your Man’ and ‘Where The Bag At’.
In one of City Girls’ biggest collaborations to date, they worked with Canadian music mogul Drake on the hit single ‘In My Feelings’. The song was featured on his fifth studio album “Scorpion” which was released in June 2018. The song became the album’s featured track and took No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. With no signs of backing down, the duo received massive exposure and were presented with a great opportunity to move forward.

They are signed to Music Quality Control right now. After releasing their first single “F*ck Dat N*gga”, they caught the attention of the public in 2017. The anti-broken boy anthem boosted their career and linked them to music executives. They started recording after an altercation with other women.
They hooked up with producer and friend MajorNine and bought a beat. What was supposed to be a female diss track turned into a boycott of broke boys? JT grew up listening to gospel while his duo listened to Trina and Jacki-O.

JT RELEASE DATE
Once again, their careers took a back seat as JT had to turn himself in to serve his sentence. Initially threatened with 10 years in prison, she accepted a plea deal and got 24 months. She is expected to be released in March 2020.
CITY GIRLS NEW SONGS AND ALBUM
Following his sentencing, Yung Miami continues to maintain the fort. In November 2018, their second album “Girl Code” hit the airwaves. The project featured Cardi B, Lil Baby and Jacquees. Notable tracks included ‘Twerk’, ‘Season’ and ‘Act Up’.
In January 2019, they released the music video for “Twerk”. It instantly went viral raking in over 8 million streams in just 1 day.
