Chumlee Biography

Austin Lee Russell Better known as Chumlee is an American actor, businessman, and reality television personality. He is best known for his appearances on the History Channel television show. Pawn Stars . The show chronicles the daily activities at the world famous gold and silver pawn shop which is filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is happily engaged to his fiancée Olivia in August 2018.

Chumlee’s early life

Chumlee was born Austin Lee Russell on September 8, 1982 in Henderson, Nevada, USA. He was 12 years old when he was given the nickname Chumlee because of his large face and chin. He has Scottish ancestry. He is of Mexican, Native American descent.

As a child, he became good friends with Corey ‘Big Hoss’ Harrison, whose father and grandfather opened the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in 1989, which always inspires him to do something big in this field.

Chumlee’s Career

Chumlee started working for the gold and silver pawn shop at the age of 21. He rose to fame after starring in the reality series Pawn Stars aired on the History Channel in 2009 starring Rick Harrison , Richard Harrison , Corey Harrison . She served behind the counter in a store, such as trying on items, uploading items, and writing tickets for items purchased by customers.

Chumlee was referred to as the ‘town idiot’ in the series due to his stupidity, to which he replied that he was underestimated. But from the second season, he began to receive love and appreciation for his work and soon became the featured character of Pawn Stars.

Later, Chumlee formed his own company, selling novelty items such as T-shirts of his own design, and hosting his personal appearances. She appeared in the episode ‘iLost My Head in Vegas’, of the American television series. iCarly along with Rick Harrison and Corey Harrison. In 2017, he opened a candy store, Chumlee’s Candy on the boulevard in Las Vegas.

Chumlee is one of the highest paid TV stars on Pawn star. She has an estimated net worth of $5 million. In 2010, Chumlee sold half of her company’s stake to Rick Harrison for $155,000 in order for her store to handle more orders.

Chumlee’s father died at the age of 54 due to pancreatic cancer just before two weeks into his Pawn Stars debut. The sudden death of his father inspired him to change his lifestyle and he lost 34 kg (75 lb) in one year thanks to a good diet and perfect exercise. His diet allowed him to ride a hovercraft that he couldn’t ride before due to his heavy weight.

Allegations and controversy

In 2016, Chumlee’s home was raided during the course of an investigation into sexual assault allegations. During an investigation, police found marijuana, methamphetamine, and a firearm. In an additional search, police found 11 other legally owned firearms, including MP5 and 223-caliber rifles.

Most of his weapons were found in a bedroom safe, along with 17 multi-dose ‘sticks’ of the anti-anxiety medication and seven capsules containing small amounts of methamphetamine along with evidence of possible cocaine use on the property.

Chumlee was later arrested but was released on bail the next day. In March 2016, he made his first court appearance, later in May he was charged with 20 felonies, including drug and weapons charges. David Chesnoff who is the attorney for Russell’s testified, the reality star was found guilty of one count of felony weapons, illegal possession of weapons which requires three years probation and counseling.
