Christy Uba appointed as NYSC Overseer

The Federal Government has on Tuesday appointed Christy Uba as National Youth Service Corps NYSC Overseer.

A brief statement signed by NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, said Uba takes over the leadership of the corps, being the most senior director in the scheme.

“Following the removal of Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as Director General, National Youth Service Corps by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Mrs. Christy Uba, Director, Information and Communications Technology, the most senior Director in the Scheme has taken over the leadership of the Corps in the capacity of Overseer, pending the appointment of a substantive Director General by Mr. President.” the statement reads.

Recall that former NYSC’s DG Gen. Muhammed Kaku Fadah was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari for Incompetence in the discharge of his duties

Fadah, who was appointed DG of NYSC in May 2022, took over from Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim as the 19th person to hold the position.

His removal came only six months after he was appointed NYSC boss.

His plans for the NYSC at the time of his appointment included “improvement of security and welfare of corps members; enhancement of staff welfare; and improving the gains of NYSC ventures”.
