Everything to know about the Chrisland School S*xtape Scandal

The Nigerian internet space has been abuzz over the Chrisland School S*xtape scandal, here is everything we know about the event.

The trouble began after the Nigerian music executive, Ubi Franklin in a tweet on Sunday, stated that a girl was raped by her fellow students, videotaped and the recording shared on Instagram.

Franklin, who however did not name the affected school, stated that the school covered up the incident for a month until the victim’s parents found out on their own.

“Just got off the phone with a friend of mine. His 10-year-old daughter was selected to represent her school at the World School Games in Dubai. His daughter was raped by fellow students, videotaped and posted on Instagram and the school concealed it for a month.

“He found out on his own when another parent called his wife and showed his wife the video of his 10-year-old daughter being circulated on Instagram.

“I have spent the last 1 hour listening to confessional statements by some teachers and I am begging this should rather be a dream,” Ubi Franklin tweeted.

Giving an update on the incident, Ubi noted that the school has since suspended the girl.

“UPDATE ON MY PREVIOUS POST.

“This school took the girl from her parents that they wanted to conduct a Covid test and the school rather took the girl for a pregnancy test.

“As we speak the girl has been SUSPENDED from the school. Some things don’t make sense at all.”

Following Ubi’s tweet, A video the girl’s mother began to circulate the internet, in the video, the woman backed up Ubi’s claim and accused the school of threatening to kill the girl if “she speaks out.”

Speaking in the video she said: “They have been threatening my daughter that if she speaks out, they are going to kill her; that it is men’s world that she should keep quiet, she shouldn’t disclose to me,”

“About a month ago, I was on my way out of Lagos. So, I got a call from Mrs. Azike, the headteacher from Chrisland; she called me (to say) that she needed to see me. I said I would come when I returned, and two days later, I came to the school. When I got to the school, I met her with two other women in her office,” the woman explained.

She added, “They wanted me to know my daughter, whom I left in their care that they took to Dubai, kissed a boy, and the boy kissed her, and they found out that they got that kissing thing from ‘truth and dare’, which I said I would curtail her. They said (what) they wanted me to do is to take her phone so they won’t continue practicing that, and I said OK.”’

According to her, she did not know about the alleged rape until another parent showed a video of her daughter engaging in sexual acts with her schoolmates. She noted that Chrisland School was trying to cover the s*xtape scandal

“So please, I’m begging Nigeria to help me because Chrisland was trying to hide this issue. They were trying to push us out of the way, and my daughter was psychologically insane,” she said. “Please, I need help as a mother. I’m begging fellow Nigerians to help me. The part that Chrisland played to cover up this rape issue.”

She also accused the 10-year-old’s class teacher of verbally abusing the girl, describing her as “a stupid and useless girl in the midst of other students.”

After she and her husband confronted Chrisland School’s management with evidence, the woman alleged their daughter was subsequently suspended.

“They took her to do a pregnancy test without the father knowing and lied to us that they were taking her for a Covid test. Because we have started confronting them, they sent her suspension letter,” she lamented.

However, Chrisland School authorities in a letter dated April 14, 2022, to the girl’s parent said she was the ringleader of the truth-or-dare game held in Dubai.

“In line with our core values centred on discipline, Chrisland Schools have zero tolerance for any improper behaviour and misconduct,” the school said in a letter signed by its principal Georgia Azike.

The school disclosed that other schoolmates who took part in the game had been suspended, adding that the girl and her parents did not cooperate during its investigation.

“Consequently, [name redacted) is hereby placed on indefinite suspension until you as the parents ensure that she is punished, adequately counselled and rehabilitated,” the school said.

However, a report on Daily Trust noted that the The Lagos State government has shut down Chrisland Schools indefinitely amid allegation of rape.
