Introduction
Christopher Michael Russo was born on October 18 , 1959 in Syosset New York, United States. He is known as ‘Mad Dog’. He is an American sports personality and is best known as the former co-host of the popular radio show Mike and the Mad Dog with Mike Francesa. The show was broadcast on WFAN in New York City and was simulcast on the YES Network. He is the only son of father Anthony Russo and mother Vera Russo. He is of American nationality and of white ethnicity.
education and career
Chris Russo attended the Darrow School in New Lebanon in New York and graduated with a degree in history from Rollins College near Orlando, Florida. He also attended Cranleigh School for one spring and also attended Sydney University for a semester.
Prior to working at WFAN, Chris Russo worked for WKIS in Orlando Florida from 1984 to 1987. During his work at WKIS, his hearing became a problem understanding his accent. Due to the problem, he was sent to the speech therapist twice a week. After leaving WKIS, Russo joined WMCA in New York from 1987 to 1988. He received the nickname “Mad Dog” from New York Daily News Sports television and radio critic Bob Raissman.
Chris Russo is known for his fast-paced manner of speaking, his quick whistles, the expressiveness of his voice, and his trademark ‘Good afternoon, everyone’ greeting. Russo’s voice was described as an odd mix of Jerry Lewis Archie Bunker by George Vecsey of The New York Times. His voice is also described as ‘Donald Duck’ on Don Imus steroids. He had performed his shows from Brookside, Grand Lake, the Jersey Shore and the US Open on many occasions.
In December 1988, Chris Russo joined WFAN as a late-night weekender and fill-in host. He then caught the eye of WFAN morning show host Don Imus. His work at Imus led him to host his own regular Saturday morning weekend in early 1989. The Francesa and Russo show quickly became WFAN’s flagship show and among the top sports talk shows. influential in the country.
On August 4th , 2008, Chris Russo reached a mutual agreement with WFAN to keep him out of the picture on his contract. On August 15th , Russo said goodbye to the show. On October 16 , 1999, he joined Francesa in his show at Yankee Stadium. Then on March 30 , 2016, he joined Francesa for a Mike and the Mad Dog reunion at Radio City Music Hall.

Chris Russo married Jeanne Lavelle on the 6th of May 1995. He has four children by his wife named Timmy, Kiera, Colin and Patrick.
