After being eliminated from Idol, he got a recording contract with RCA Records. Their self-titled debut album became the best-selling debut rock album in Nielsen Sound Scan history, selling over a million copies after just five weeks of release. The album was recorded before the band was officially formed and he appeared as the only official member featured on the album.
It reached number one on the Billboard chart. He is the third competitor of American Idol in terms of record sales. The group was nominated for Best Rock Song for the single “It’s Not Over” at the 50th Grammy Awards. He has also collaborated with several artists, including Slash, Theory of a Deadman, Chad Kroeger, Sevendust, Brad Arnold, Vince Gill and Carlos Santana.
