Cheryl Stephanie Burke is an American dancer, model, and television host. She is best known for being one of the professional dancers on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, where she was the first professional to win the show and the first professional to win twice and consecutively. She was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Atherton, CA.

Originally from the Bay Area, Cheryl began dancing at the age of six, taking ballet lessons and performing throughout the Bay Area. At age 10, she found her winning talent, ballroom dancing, and chose to hang up her ballet shoes in order to begin training in both standard and Latin ballroom dancing. Cheryl was traveling and competing all over the world by the age of 13.
She won her first championship with 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey in season two, and she won her second championship with retired soccer star Emmitt Smith in season three. She returned to the ballroom and teamed up with actor Ian Ziering. In her interview, she said that Ziering was her least favorite dance partner of all time on DWTS, that she begged the show’s producers to eliminate her every week, and that being with Ziering made her want to. “split my wrists”; She later apologized for the suicide reference without taking anything back from what she said about Ziering.
She participated with Lachey and Newton in the Dancing with the Stars winter tour which began on December 18, 2007 in Seattle, Washington.
