BIOGRAPHY OF AMANDA FRIDAY
Amanda Freitag is an American chef and television judge based in New York. She is a frequent guest on the TV show Food Newtwork. Freitag is a judge on the television cooking competition Chopped. She is also a co-host, with Ty Pennington , of American Diner Revival.
Freitag attended Memorial High School (now known as Cedar Grove High School). Her home economics professor suggested that Amanda might be interested in attending the Culinary Institute of America
She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1989 and took a position at Vong New York under chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Freitag then left Vong in 1994 to cook at Verbena, under the direction of chef Diane Forley. She then traveled to France and Italy, working for a short time at the restaurant L’Arpège under the direction of chef Alain Passard in 1999.

Amanda is a frequent judge on the food game show Chopped. She went to battle Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America in ‘Battle: King Crab’. Unfortunately, she narrowly lost with a score of 49 to Flay’s 50 points. However, the judging was even with the exception of Freitag earning one less point in the “taste” category.
She appeared on the Martha Stewart Show and presented recipes for Yogurt Panna Cotta and Ginger Gold Apple Celeriac Soup on October 16, 2009.
He participated in The Next Iron Chef Season 2, finishing in fourth place. She stated that she would continue as a judge on Chopped for the 2010 season and also returned for the season four episode “Against the Tide”.She appeared alongside Grand Chopped Champion Madison Cowan in Battle Kale on the April 15, 2012 episode of Iron Chef America acting as Cowan’s sous chef.
It was announced that Freitag would make another appearance as a contestant on season five of The Next Iron Chef on August 7, 2012. In the finale on December 23, she lost to Alexandra Guarnashelli.

Freitag and restaurateur Godfrey Polistina opened the Upper West Side restaurant Cesca Enoteca & Trattoria in 2003. She was head chef at Cesca, before moving on to an executive chef position at The Harrison
The New York Times reported that Freitag would leave the Harrison and restaurant owner Jimmy Bradley would return as chef on September 3, 2010.
