CHARO VEGA: HER AGE, HER PARTNER AND WHY THE ‘SURVIVORS’ CONTESTANT IS FAMOUS

At 64, the Sevillian woman became a public figure as soon as she left the womb, since she comes from a family of artists, her grandmother being the best known. She is the granddaughter of the great bailaora Pastora Imperio, who was an influence on other big names.

Although her grandmother is no longer known to the vast majority today, her name is a legend for fans of copla and flamenco. In addition to being a singer, she went down in history for being a silent film actress, lover of King Alfonso XIII and wife of Rafael Ortega or ‘El Gallo’.

THE FAMOUS FRIENDS OF CHARO VEGA

That influence of her family made Charo Vega have unusual friendships, since she was always surrounded by great celebrities. Among her close friends there were always Carmina Ordóñez, Belén Ordóñez and Lolita. With the family of Lola Flores, she maintains an enormous friendship that continues today.

HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH ISABEL PANTOJA

In her youth she was one of the most beautiful women on the social scene, which is why she came to be associated with the singer Joan Manuel Serrat. She finally married Tony Caravaca, representative of Isabel Pantoja, which is why she became friends with the singer.

Both were friends for more than 30 years, but it all ended in 2013, when the singer tried to forbid her friend from attending the “Sálvame Deluxe” program.

The Sevillian, in addition to breaking her friendship with Pantoja, also divorced her husband, at which point she rebuilt her life with José Soto ‘Sorderita’, known for being a member of the Ketama group, all of which are leaders in flamenco fusion in Spain.

After 11 years together, the separation was a hard blow for the ‘Survivors’ contestant, who began to have a problem with alcohol and drugs. Her hell came in 2011, so in 2013 she revealed everything on television: “Any day they found me dead and that’s why I decided to ask for help.”
