The director Charles Jarrott, responsible for films such as Ana of a thousand days , was active for more than five decades . The director died on March 4, 2011 at the age of 83 in Los Angeles, as a result of cancer.

Born on June 16, 1927, Londoner Charles Jarrott began his career in English television, directing episodes of series such as General Motors Presents and Out of This World . After several telefilms, he made his debut on the big screen with Anne of a Thousand Days , about the relationship between Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. The film starred Richard Burton and introduced Geneviève Bujold .

Next, Jarrott returned to the history of England with Mary, Queen of Scots , with Vanessa Redgrave and Glenda Jackson. The director is also responsible for Lost Horizons (1973) , a remake of the Frank Capra film based on a novel by James Hilton . He also shot Disney ‘s Condorman and The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark . He tried his hand at the espionage genre with Parallel Secret Services , while Nicolas Cage starred in Race of Champions (1986) about a champion canoeist. During the 1990s he was very active again as a director of telefilms.
