Chansung is a trained martial artist and a black belt in taekwondo. He’s also a fitness freak, and according to him, sometimes works out twice a day. After an interview in 2010, Chansung revealed that he prefers to train for one body part in a day. His training consisted mainly of muscle training and jogging for 15-20 minutes a day.
Besides exercising, he also focused on his eating habits and instead of eating one big meal, he preferred to eat small meals every 2 or 3 hours to keep him from gaining weight easily.

- Before starting his singing career, he was already a television actor, appearing in the South Korean sitcom High Kick (2006) and teen drama Jungle Fish (2008).
- He auditioned to take part in the reality show Superstar Survival in 2006 and was selected as one of the 12 finalists.
- Later in 2008 he took part in another reality show called Hot Blood Men which showed the journey of 13 trainees who would become a boy band One day which later spawned 2 new bands namely 2 AM and 2 PM .
- He made his official debut with boy band 14:00 on September 4, 2008.
- Chansung is a trained martial artist with high achievement in kumdo and holds a 3 degree black belt in taekwondo.
