In the summer of 2017, Chandler enlisted the help of Dr. John Meyer, a physical therapist, with the aim of putting his injury problems on the back burner and getting his body in the best possible shape for the new season. As part of his fitness routine, he was asked to work out five times a week.
Training usually starts with a vibrating foam to loosen the leg muscles. This was followed by stretching therapy and manual therapy by Meyer to simulate his leg muscles. During the conditioning exercises, he was not allowed to lift a weight greater than 20 pounds. Emphasis was placed on his jumping, balancing, slicing, and disabling, with an emphasis on multi-directional lunges and fast blasting moves.
In addition to increasing his in-game fitness, Meyer also focused on improving the mobility and flexibility of his ankles and hips, as well as his core strength.
