Carrie Fisher
A beautiful and young princess who tries to escape from the clutches of the cruel and feared Darth Vader. Leia is the heroine of the first Star Wars trilogy that was released in 1977, and Carrie Fisher found in her a diamond that brought her fame.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Fisher comes from a family of artists. Her father, Eddie, was a singer while her mother is actress Debbie Reynolds , whom she co-starred with in the film Shampoo , her film debut. Carrie had a peak in her seventies and eighties, and today she lives on the memory of those sweet years. She precisely has her three best-known films to thank: in 1977 she premiered the first part of the cult saga Star Wars , in which she played a young rebellious princess with a somewhat uncertain past. The science fiction film continues to be a reference in the cinematographic world today; three years later she presented The Empire Strikes Back, the sequel that achieved great success and that has one of the most famous sequences on celluloid; and the closing of this glorious circle came with Return of the Jedi in 1983. A very worthy end to a saga that marked an era. More than thirty years later, Carrie has received the call of the force again and has been hired for the new sequel, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens , which will be released in December 2015.
Although Fisher acted in other well-known feature films such as the funny and musical Rogues at Full Rhythm (1980), Woody Allen ‘s award-winning film Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) or the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally (1989), the rest of his Her career has been marked by a personal problem with drugs that distanced her from the industry and made her become a secondary regular. The Man with the Red Shoe (1985), Hollywood Vice Squad (1986), Appointment with Death (1988) and You Shall Not Kill… The Neighbor (1989) are clear examples of her decadence.
During the nineties Carrie Fisher was missing and was seen with droppers in small productions. Entering the 21st century, she began to hook productions of a higher caliber, but which were still not substantial. A supporting role in The Seductresses (2001), another the same year in the thug comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and also one in The Women (2008), a remake of the 1939 feature film, did not give him back any of the lost prestige.
His latest works have followed the same line, since in 2009 he released Hermandad de sangre (2009), a film about young women who accidentally murder a boy. It was another commercial failure. Five years after her, the flamboyant David Cronenberg gave her a small role as herself in the dark Maps to the Stars (2014). It may be that the last trick that she has left to recover something of the lost name are the new installments of the intergalactic battle that opens on Christmas 2015.
On the other hand, although without much success, Carrie Fisher decided to try her luck on television. She has interspersed feature films with numerous cameos and fleeting appearances in the idiot box such as The Big Bang Theory , The Entourage , Weeds , or Sex and the City .
