One of the highlights of her career was when she was invited to the White House to interview President Obama about the Iran nuclear deal in 2015. She was Michigan’s only news anchor and among the few journalists selected across the country. Other memorable moments in her career are when she interviewed NBA legends Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters.
Clifford covered the hurricanes that occurred in North Carolina when former South African President Nelson Mandela visited Michigan for the first time when he was released from prison. She has also covered stories such as finding free mammogram testing sites for women in need and offering free flu shots during a national shortage, which has helped change the lives of her viewers.
Carolyn also speaks out against domestic violence at various events in her area. she made efforts to personally help victims of domestic violence. Before her career as a journalist crossed her mind, she dreamed of dancing on Broadway. She is a dancer who performed in both the MSU Motion Dance Team and the Michigan State Dance Company before graduating.

Clifford went MIA for over a month after anchoring at WXYZ. She was on sick leave to undergo surgery but kept her followers updated on what was happening to her via her social media. As a mother of three, she knew she had fibroids but didn’t know how far they had grown inside her. She noticed her belly had swelled up when she saw herself on TV but ignored it assuming it was because she was a mother and her middle age had spread.
Clifford started facing bladder and stomach issues and that’s when she contacted Dr. Shukri David. She underwent an ultrasound which showed she had a fibroid the size of a soccer ball and other smaller ones which were to destroy her kidney if not removed.
Clifford took it upon herself to explain to her Facebook followers that she had fibroid tumors growing inside her. She also explained that many middle-aged women have fibroids growing inside but are unaware of them. She also stated that she will not be leaving WXYZ but will only be taking a hiatus due to her medical condition.
His operation was performed by Dr. Nishan Chobanian at Providence Park Hospital on March 19. She took time to heal at her home and returned to work on April 23, 2018. Carolyn was welcomed back to work with a surprise from her co-workers. his first day after his departure.
