training
Anthony went to Towson Catholic High School where he studied for 3 years. After his freshman year at Towson, Carmelo received offers from colleges such as North Carolina and Syracuse and wanted to forego his senior year of high school and join Syracuse. However, due to his poor grades and overall low American College Testing (ACT) score, Anthony knew he needed to work on his grades more to qualify for Syracuse.
Initially, Melo wanted to finish his senior year at Virginia Hargrave Military Academy , but eventually enrolled at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, a school coached by Steve Smith. After graduating from Oak Hill Academy and scoring at least 18 in the ACT, Anthony decided to enter the Syracuse University college program rather than enter the NBA draft. Despite Carmelo’s promise to spend two or three more seasons in Syracuse after his freshman year was over, he decided to finish the rest of his college days and enter the 2003 NBA draft.
