Cameron Diaz

A woman of spectacular beauty. This obvious fact doesn’t quite explain why the camera has fallen head over heels for Cameron Diaz. Well, her debut in The Mask was certainly love at first sight.

It was a film designed to show off Jim Carrey ‘s grimaces , to which were added some then new special morphing effects. But perhaps what most attracted attention in The Mask was the presence, certainly secondary, of a blonde woman with a charming smile who went by the exotic name of Cameron Díaz. This girl, through whose veins runs a mixture of English, German, Cuban and Cherokee Indian blood, put the public in her pocket as soon as she showed her face on the screen. The love of her that her celluloid showed for her, followed without a solution of continuity, that of the spectators. Chuck Russell , the director who discovered her in The Mask, is clear about the secret of Cameron’s success: beauty aside, the key is his charm and sense of humor. “She’s attractive to men and attractive to women,” Russell says. “For the same reason women think Mel Gibson is great and men can imagine they would enjoy being friends with him.”

Cameron Diaz’s (Long Beach, California, 1972) career appears as a bunch of contradictions, or paradoxes if you will. The youngest of two sisters, before making movies she dedicated herself to the catwalk; but she didn’t become a Claudia Schiffer , to put it a put. About her She likes spicy jokes and risque language, and her informal way of hers and somewhat shabby dress of hers, clashes with the image of her dressed impeccably for a gala. The intelligent way in which she has led her professional career contrasts with an unstable love life (among her boyfriends have been Matt Dillon , Vincent D’Onofrio and Jared Leto). She does not have an academic training as an actress, and yet her name has been mentioned several times for the Oscar. Although she has not had an absolute leading role so far, she is known to viewers all over the world. Her angelic blonde appearance has not prevented her from participating in films with decidedly naughty intentions. The Farrelly brothers knew how to exploit that facet like no one else in Something About Mary : the paradigmatic example is the famous “hairspray” gag; the success of the character of Mary was that she is the girl that every man would dream of, and that she was above the rudeness of the male cast who wanted her. Her sweetness and fragility helped her end her acting duel with Julia Roberts in a draw.My best friend’s wedding ; in fact, in the karaoke scene, in which we know his null conditions for the song, he gets all our sympathies.

Diaz has ventured into independent films, where she has had hits ( She’s One , Being John Malkovich , A Different Story , You Only Live Once , Things You’d Say Just Looking At Her ) and flops ( Honeymoon , The Invisible Circus , The Last Supper ). His participation in films with the major studios also covers a wide range: from blatantly commercial products without substance, such as The Sweetest Thing or the two “Charlie’s Angels”, to more important titles, with prestigious directors, such as Vanilla Sky .( Cameron Crowe ‘s remake of Open Your Eyes ), Any Given Sunday ( Oliver Stone ), and Gangs of New York ( Martin Scorsese ). However, Cameron has a pending issue and he knows it: bear the full weight of a movie. He is in no hurry to approve it, but many of us would like to see it already licensed with “summa cum laude”.
