CAM NEWTON SUPER BOWL

When Newton was ranked 1st in Charlotte as Carolina’s no in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Panthers had just finished a 2-14 campaign. In the six seasons since Cam led the team to a 12-4 record in 2013 and 15-1 in 2015, which ended in a Super Bowl 50 loss to the Broncos.

He was also named league MVP this season for throwing for 3,837 yards, 35 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and adding 10 more touchdowns on 636 rushing yards.

In June 2015, Newton paid immediate dividends on the six-year, $118.5 million deal he signed with the Panthers, who struggled in 2016, winning just six games and falling first to first. fourth in the NFC South.

Cam played in 93 regular season games while still 28 years old. He said he felt like the only thing missing from his life was a Lombardi trophy.

“I look at my life right now and say, ‘I’m missing one thing: I want a Super Bowl,'” Newton told high school players during his annual 7-on-7 Passing Tournament, via the Charlotte Observer. “Yeah, but it’s really some things that you really have to tweak and say, ‘Do I deserve to be a Super Bowl-winning quarterback? How can I push myself to be a better me? »

The Panthers’ plan to make him a better version of himself: Surround Newton with game makers. The team drafted for skill with its first two picks — Christian McCaffrey was taken eighth overall and Curtis Samuel went 32 picks later. In the third round, the Panthers improved the offensive line with tackle Taylor Moton. The unit ranked in the bottom half of the league in one run and one pass block last season, according to Football Outsiders stats.

And while Cam no doubt appreciates the support, Cam decided long ago that he was going to make a difference on the pitch.

INJURY TO CAM NEWTON

Newton has remained remarkably and also durable, based on his considering his physical and heavy style. His team, the QB Panthers, reportedly suffered ligament and cartilage damage in his right knee in January’s playoff loss to New Orleans.

There isn’t much information from his team, although he avoided surgery. But no one seems too concerned about his articulation. He also underwent off-season shoulder surgery before 2017, so he might be in better shape for the prep work this time around. There is no problem on his knee as of 2018
