Cam Avery is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, notable for his contribution to the band Taming Pond and Impala . He is also known for forming the Fremantle-based garage rock band The Growl . Cam has collaborated with several musicians and groups such as Abby May, The Last Shadow Puppets , Alexandra Savior and Arctic Monkeys . He is also known for the release of his debut album Mature Dreams, Pipe Dreams (2017). Cam is also a talented multi-instrumentalist who can play drums, rhythm, bass, piano and harmonica.

Cam released his debut album, titled Mature Dreams, Pipe Dreams on February 13, 2017. It was compiled from a total of 10 songs, Time and Place , Do You Know Me By Heart? , Dance With Me , Wasted On Allegiance , Big Town Girl , One Way , The Captain’s Scream , Watch Me Take It Away , An Always Exciting Moment , and C’est Toi (Extended). It also included a deluxe version that included the songs Whoever Said the Gambling for Suckers and C’est Toi. Magazines such as Pitchfork and The Thin praised his album for its simplicity in the context of music performed by legendary musicians such as Johnny Hartman, Elvis Presley and Sarah Vaughan.

1. He was born on the east side of Fremantle.
2. Cam spent the first 5 years of his life moving from place to place in north Perth but lived in Broome and parts of Karratha and Dampier.
3. He lived with both of his parents in a trailer home until his parents divorced when he was 6 years old. Later his mother took him and his brother Eliott to Como before moving to Leeming to stay with their mother.
4. In his youth he was a chubby boy and also wore suspenders.
5. After her divorce, Cam’s mother saw a man named Murray.
6. He started playing the piano at a young age.
7. While at school he was quite a shy person and wasn’t very interested in sports except for rugby as he was the tallest and was almost unstoppable at the game. He also participated in the school’s choir group.
8. Cam was 16 years old when he started playing the guitar. His first guitar teacher was a jazz player named Scott Terry.
9. By the time he was 17, he had already started writing songs.
10. The reason he wanted to learn the guitar was because he realized how easy it was to win a girl’s heart with it.
11. A career counselor once told his mother that he was “delusional” because Cam told him he either wanted to join a rock band or play sports for a living. Growing up, he wanted to be a part of The West Coast Eagles .
