- In his honor, his alma mater Sandy Creek High School decided to retire his No. 81 jersey in October 2010.
- In 2016 he participated in the dance reality show, Dancing with the Stars and managed to finish in 3rd position.
- During his high school years, he was not only a letterman in football, but also a standout baseball player.
- When he was offered entry by Georgia Institute of Technology they wanted him to play baseball and football. However, his mother was against it and asked him to choose a sport.
- When he played high school football, he was the highest rated player in the state of Georgia. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution selected him as an all-state first-team pick (class AAAA).
- When he graduated from college, he became the first player in Georgia Tech history to rush for 2,927 yards in its estimated history.
- In the summer of 2006, instead of getting involved in building eco-friendly condominiums, he decided to work on a project building solar latrines in Bolivia because he wanted to help the less fortunate.
