Callum Keith Rennie was born on September 14 1960 in Sunderland, County Durham; he is a British-born Canadian actor. At the age of 4, his family emigrated to Canada. Callum Keith Rennie was brought up as the second of three boys. He attended Strathcona High School where he met his friend, Bruce McCulloch at The Kids in The Hall. While in College, he dropped out and took up odd jobs, staying in Vancouver and Toronto respectively before eventually settling in Vancouver. He was addicted to alcoholism for a long time until he was able to get his addiction under control at age 33 and finally commit to acting.

Career
Callum Keith Rennie started his stage career performing at the A.B.O.P. Theatre in Edmonton Amerika, a play adapted from Franz Kafka’s novel. Then followed by the critically acclaimed American Buffalo during the Edmonton International Fringe Festival. In 1989, he had his first professional theatrical performance in Lost Souls and Missing Persons after attending Bruhanski Theatre Studio in Vancouver. His performance earned him an invitation to work at the Shaw Festival where he appeared in Man and Superman and also, in Trelawny of the Wells in 1990.
His first screen appearance was in the indie 1990 Canadian film Purple Toast which was released in 1993. In the same year, he began taking small roles in television. Later on, his profile within the Canadian industry was heightened by leading roles in Paris or Somewhere (1994) and For Those Who Hunt the Wounded Down (1996).
