Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, and a Grammy AWARD Winner who has risen to become one of the biggest and most successful African artists of all time. He was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State 0n 2nd July 1991 to the families of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ogulu. His father, Samuel Ogulu managed a welding company and his mother, Bose Ogulu worked as a translator before she later become his manager. His grandfather Benson Idonije once managed Fela Kuti.
Burna Boy grew up in southern Nigeria and began his music career at just ten years old when a fellow classmate at school gave him a copy of the production software FruityLoops to make his own beats. He attended Corona Secondary School in Agbara, Ogun State, after he graduated, he moved to London to attend university, but he dropped out after two years and moved back to Nigeria He studied Media Technology at the University of Sussex, followed by Media Communications and Culture at Oxford Brookes University.
In 2010, the 19-year-old Ogulu travelled to Nigeria’s southern coast, where a mutual acquaintance, producer LeriQ, had some studio space. This marked a period when he began to connect to the music of his native country, having spent most of his youth immersed in American acts like DMX. He delved into the dancehall and reggae music his father listened to and explored the Afro-beat music preferred by his grandfather who had also been Fela Kuti’s first manager. As a result of his new discoveries, Ogulu created a confluence of genres that would become his signature sound.

Burna Boy rose to stardom in 2012 after the release of “Like to Party”. “Like to Party” was the lead song off his debut studio album L.I.F.E {Living Impact To Eternity}, which was released in 2013. On the first day of release, the album sold over 40,000 copies.
He has featured several top Nigerian music artists, including 2face Idibia, M.I, Timaya, Olamide, Reminisce and Wizkid.
Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally in 2017. Burna Boy’s third studio album “Outside” marked his major-label debut.
