Buhari reacts to eight Nigerians winning big in US midterm elections

Eight Nigerian-American politicians have won legislative offices in the United States midterm elections.

In Georgia State, Segun Adeyina, Gabe Okoye, Solomon Adesanya, Tish Naghise, and Phil Olaleye won their legislative seats as State Representatives in their Districts.

Also, Carol Kazeem won the Pennsylvania State Representative in District 159 while Esther Agbaje was re-elected as Minnesota State Representative in District 59B.

Dr. Oye Owolewa was also re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (Shadow Representative) in Washington D.C.

Reacting to their wins, President Muhammadu Buhari, who congratulated them on their victory, prayed for their successful tenure in office.

He thanked them for their invaluable support and partnerships, over the years, with groups affiliated with the ideals and objectives of Nigerians in Diaspora associations in the United States.

The president also restated his unflinching support for every Nigerian excelling at home and abroad.

According to him, compatriots who succeed in good causes are assets to the nation and the continent, noting that their contributions will always be remembered and celebrated.

Meanwhile, A Pennsylvania state representative who died in October, Anthony DeLuca, was reelected during the United States midterm elections.

Fox News reported that DeLuca died in October 9, 2022 “after a brief battle with lymphoma, a disease he twice previously beat.”

The 85-year-old democrat was Pennsylvania’s longest-serving state rep before his death.

Reacting to his reelection, the Pennsylvania House Democrats Caucus said, “While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously
